A Boring Food Day

Today wasn't that exciting... food wise. This morning I made my final batch of jam... 7 little jars of blackberry jam. I don't know what I'm going to do with all this jam, but it sure is nice to reclaim all the freezer space. I had about 16 cups of berries in my freezer!! It's positively spacious now.

Today I also finally made my long-awaited seitan... but unfortunately I got distracted and forgot to turn down the heat (so it boiled for an hour, rather than simmered). As a result, it's not very firm... but I might be able to still use it somehow.

I promise more fun stuff for tomorrow!

My dear Miss Amey, I am so enjoying your vegan blog and finally found I must tell you so. I get a little 10 minute Amey time every couple of days now--feels like I'm in the kitchen with you!

Have you noticed that when I spell out Jen Jen the Witch's Hen as an acronym it looks slightly like a new version of WWJD? Coincidence? I think not.

Have you tried Early Girl dry farmed tomatoes, which are now popping up everywhere, both in the market and the grocery? I think they deserve a visit to your blog. And my salad, which I'm just about to make.

  2. Hoorah!
    Hi JJTWH!
Yes, it is so often like you are in the kitchen with me. I love that we have so many of the same cookbooks, and especially that you have drawn little smiley faces next to your favorites in some of them. :)

I have a huge mess of tomatoes already, and now - just as we are about to leave - our own tomato plants are starting to crank out some real beauties! So, you can keep your eyes here for more tomato posts in the next few days!

I love comments, they really make my day! Thanks for reading my blog! I'm sorry I had to turn on word verification and comment moderation - I was getting so many spam comments!
