Family Dinner!

Last night was Family Dinner Night, and we had a great showing - 11 people in all!

I very inconveniently forgot my camera, but my cousin & her husband saved the day with their IPhone. Right on! They are both super cool people, and are out here for the summer. They are also both vegan, and they made some super tasty vegan appetizers. These were crackers with a layer of pesto and then a dollop of another cream, I think it was cashew-based. Very fancy!

Here we are together! Cousin Vegan Eats & Treats is holding the giant bowl of raspberries picked from the garden, and I am holding my mom's delicious salad. The salad was great - full of fresh veggies and very summery. As for the raspberries, we ate them with dessert - some frozen chocolate cake with raspberry filling that we had left over from another family celebration. Our whole family is very spoiled by the raspberry situation. My aunt said that there are about 2 quarts a day! Wowzee!

And here's the dinner plate:
Green beans, mom's salad, and Polenta Rancheros from "Vegan Brunch," of course. The Polenta Rancheros was really great, even as a dinner dish, and it was a hit with everyone. Everyone, that is, except my little nephew who filled up on Peanut Butter & Jelly before hand and didn't even want to try it when I told him I would pay him 50 cents for every bite he took!

These pics are pretty good from an IPhone, huh?!
