Check out that color!!! Mmmmm. This is the asparagus-cilantro soup from The Real Food Daily Cookbook. Have you ever made it? No? Well, you should! It's super full of asparagus flavor. Musty spoiled me and bought me a loaf of delicious roasted garlic sourdough bread, so we had some toast for dinner.
Recently, Musty playfully accused me of being a "Health Nut," which I was surprised by. Am I a Health Nut? My dear readers, you know how many cookies I make (and eat!). And yet, when I felt such a gleeful sense of abandon simply by eating a piece of unbleached flour sourdough toast with a skimpy amount of Earth Balance... I started to wonder if maybe he was right. At least maybe a little bit.
But, would a Health Nut eat this tasty morsel!? Health Nut or not, I sure enjoyed this neat little Italian treat. I got this goodie at the same spot where I bought Musty's fancy birthday noodles. Isn't that packaging beautiful? It reminded me of some of the beautiful candies I used to buy myself when I lived in Italy. I was SO happy to see that it was vegan!!! I haven't found a fancy Italian candy that was vegan in a long time.
Here's a glimpse of the inside. You can see that it was friendly and petite... Crunchy nuts and toffee bits. You know something I REALLY miss as a vegan? NOUGAT. Any ideas?
I want some asparagus soup! So perfect for spring.

ReplyDeleteBoth Pangea Vegan Store and Vegan Essentials sell a really lovely nougat. Here's the link for Vegan Essentials: http://store.nexternal.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=vegane&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=448558986&Count2=365699410&Keyword=nougat&Target=products.asp It's nougat in the traditional European sense, not in the 3 Musketeers bar sense.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold and rainy right now, and nothing on earth sounds better than that asparagus soup with a crusty garlic sourdough. Yum!
