Even though I signed on weeks ago, I only just finally got around to testing some recipes for Kittee. What fun. I used quite a few new ingredients, and ate some super tasty food:
How creepy/freaky is that sausage dough!?
Here I am rolling up my sausages. It was my first time making any of the legendary steamed seitan sausages. It most certainly will not be my last. Loved 'em. And not so hard, really.
Another of her sausage recipes... also yummy!
Take two kinds of sausage, lots of spices, some veggies, and you've got Creole Gumbo! Served with rice and Kittee's totally transcendent Collard Greens. Damn. I thought I loved collard greens before, but now I want to marry them!
Also, over at the PPK boards, the idea was proposed to pick a cookbook and have everyone cook something from it that they hadn't made before. Fun! The first book was Vegan With A Vengence, of course. I made the Tofu-Dill Sammiches, which I hadn't made before. Pretty good, but probably not a new favorite. Might be better in a pita... I don't mind messy food, but really - this was a serious challenge to eat!
SO fun that you're recipe-testing!! Love all the eats.

ReplyDeleteHa, that first picture was a little freaky!!
ReplyDeleteThat sausage dough freaked me out when the photo popped up in Google Reader! What did you use to get the red color?
ReplyDeleteI really need to get in on the vegan sausage making fun.
ReplyDeleteI signed on as a tester for Kittee, too, but haven't made a single thing. :-(
The collards do look really, really goood!
Hi Amey! I check out your blog semi-regularly, as it's a great inspiration to cook/try new veg things but OH MAN was I freaked out by that sausage dough! ick! Seitan or not, I dunno if I'd be interested to try it.. But we'll see. :P Great pictures though, and I'm definitely interested in that gumbo!
ReplyDeleteThe sausage dough definitely looks strange! I'm a Kittee tester too in theory, going to start once I have my own kitchen which should be soon. I'm looking forward to that gumbo!
ReplyDeleteMmm mmm! I am loving Kittee's basic gluten loaf, SO good.
ReplyDeleteKittee is an amazing lady...and there are just so many cookbooks and so little time to make all the recipes. I have so many recipes bookmarked that I want to try!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see Kittee's new cookbook. That stuff looks so awesome!
ReplyDeleteOMG, that first pic really did scare me! Looks so much like meat....
ReplyDeleteThat sandwich even looks challenging to eat! I hate messy food.
Aaaaah, that looks so much like raw ground beef!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's not ground beef? Whoa!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know another cookbook is on the way!
I love those Kittee collard greens. I must have made that recipe (and slight variations) about 30 times last winter with all of the collards from my garden. This reminds me that I want to get her Papa Tofu zine. Yum.
