VeganMoFo: Sweet Earth Chocolates from Heaven

If there is a heaven, surely it is a place where there are piles of Sweet Earth vegan chocolates.

Killing time in the Motel 6 lobby in San Luis Obispo this weekend, I picked out some tiny menus from area restaurants... scanning for vegan-friendly options. One place "Splash Cafe & Artisan Bakery" had a friendly little brochure - but wait! - what's this I see on the inside?? "Vegan Chocolates" ?! Of course I made a point to go there. I picked up some (non-vegan) pastries for my friends, but I wasn't sad, because I also got to buy these amazing chocolates for myself!

Pictured here are the vegan caramel Clusters: a wonderfully chewy-creamy caramel with some cashews on the inside, coated in 65% fair-trade, organic dark chocolate with crispy rice in the chocolate. Suffice it to say that I have already called and inquired about a special order of more. They are really good.

And here's some really wonderful news. These treats are truly vegan, in every sense of the word. Check out the Sweet Earth Website to read about their commitment to organic and fair trade chocolate. Then, check out their blog about their trip to Africa this year to do service projects for the countries that grow their chocolate. Pretty neat.

Also, they have a lot of different vegan chocolates available, peppermint fondant, coconut fondant, peanut butter cups, peppermint chocolate, nut clusters, different caramels, and some different vegan hot cocoa mixes too. When I called about placing an order, the woman I spoke with was super friendly. I plan on reviewing the other flavors once they arrive in the mail!

In the meantime, go order some for yourself!
