VeganMoFo: Bloggie Meetup!

Last night I got to meet Vegan Noodle, from "Walking The Vegan Line," and her husband John. They were in Santa Cruz for business, and so we arranged a dinner date. They were awesome! We went out to eat at "Malabar," one of two all-veg Sri Lankan restaurants in Santa Cruz. True to form, the service was quite slow indeed, but the company was great - so it didn't bother me much. We ordered a lot of different dishes and shared them amongst ourselves: fresh baked pan with garlicy olive oil, fresh salad rolls with tempeh, mango curry, eggplant & tofu, and green pea-cashew dumplings with a creamy curry sauce. Yum! Malabar's food is rich and flavorful, so sharing dishes was a great solution - to have a more varied palette.

It was a really fun evening - wonderful to meet and enjoy someone I'd only known online. Once again, the wonderful world of the vegan blogosphere does not disappoint! It made me fantasize about a neighborhood full of all the friendly vegan bloggers, living on the same street, making cookies for each other, having dinner parties... Instead - we'll just have to enjoy our friendly sporadic meet ups!
