Oh Hazelnut Bread, I Loved You So

When I was at my yoga course in Austria, sometimes they would have this hazelnut bread in the morning. Other times, it wasn't there. It got to the point where every morning, I couldn't wait to see if my special friend would be there to greet me. Just look at those huge, toasty nuts... surrounded by lovely rye-bread goodness. Of all the nuts in the world, I love hazelnuts most of all, so this special bread and I were really made for each other. I miss it so. I must try to recreate it for myself.

I love hazelnuts. I've found that they tend to be more popular and available in Germany and Austria than they are here. I wish the US would catch on to this!

Oh, yes! I have a hazelnut fig bread recipe on my blog. I made it with wheat, I think. I am now convinced that I need to grow another starter and make this with wheat and rye.
