I went to a baby shower for a super good friend of mine. I wanted to make something healthy and yummy - so I went with the good ol' classic : a hummus platter! I made a huge batch of Hummus (I always use Dreena Burton's recipe for Classic Hummus) - and sprinkled on some sumac and dukkah. I really love the dukkah/hummus combo, it's a simple way to dress up your hummus into something that feels a little more gourmet.
Then I arranged a bunch of fresh veggies... Isn't it amazing how beautiful veggies are, all on their own? So many beautiful, bright colors. I don't really like raw zucchini or raw broccoli, so I lightly steamed those ones first. In the end, the sugar snap peas were definitely the most popular choice, and zucchini were the least popular. So, next time - more sugar snap peas & I'll leave the zukes at home!
I've never considered fancying up my hummus with a topping before, what a great idea! I'm not the biggest fan of raw broc' either so I'd definitely have steamed it, I'd have gobbled up all of the raw zucchini though, yum!
ReplyDeletethat looks so great! i love the toppings! hummus is always a winner:)
ReplyDeleteI love Dreena's hummuses (hummi?) too :) I love the addition of the dukkah. I've never had it, but it sounds scrumptious. I'm totally with you on raw broccoli..it gives me indigestion! I would have eaten the zukes, though, raw or cooked! :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious! I love raw broccoli!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of dukkah before this but it sounds wonderful. Especially with the bread dipping. Yum.
ReplyDeleteLooks delish! :)
