As you may know, Mr. Vegan Eats & Treats and I are about to get married. We've been together for more than twelve and a half years, so I'm pretty sure it's gonna work out. :) We are having a small wedding, in my cousin's backyard, and we are working hard to keep it a low-stress event! My brother's awesome girlfriend wanted to throw a bridal shower for me, and I was thinking "I don't need a bridal shower...," but I'm so glad she suggested it! She put together such a sweet and fun event with my special ladies! It was a really great afternoon. Thanks Jenny!!
Plus, even though she is very happily Not At AllVegan, she put together a totally amazing vegan spread - including this gloriously beautiful and delicious vegan cake that she got from a local bakery. Best of all, I didn't even know about that bakery or that they made vegan cakes - she deserves Special Recognition for this!
Of course there was fruit salad, because F.S. is the best.
There were two big platters of excellent vegan sandwiches with cheeze and avocado and cukes and sprouts...
... and a giant bowl of Pesto Pasta Salad. Luckily there was some of this left over and we had it for dinner the next night!
My mom brought along her super yummy Turkish Salad, which is every bit as delicious as it looks. I love this salad - so fresh and full of summery flavors.
Here's my whole platter of Bridal Shower Goodness! Isn't that cool?
After lunch there was some very festive crafty time - which is totally up my alley. Jenny had Pandora playing on the Dolly Parton station (woot!), and we all sat around and had crafty fun together and chatted and enjoyed our afternoon together. In the end, I got a beautiful book with a page from each of my friends and family with their wedding advice for Mr. VE&T and me. I love it!
You didn't think I'd forget the cake, did you?! After our crafty fun, we busted into that gorgeous cake and it was just delicious. Moist and chocolately with some sort of mocha hint in there too. Such a total treat to have a special cake that I didn't even have to make myself!!!
It was really great fun!
Our wedding day is just 10 days away... so I'll see if I can post again before then - if not, stay tuned for a Vegan Wedding update!

ReplyDeleteOMG congrats! This looks like such a cute event and that cake it completely drool-worthyy! I just got married too and I hope yours is a little less stressful! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful food! Congratulations on your wedding. I'm sure it will be fantastic. My husband and I got married in my parents' backyard, we kept the food vegan, and it was very low stress (my brother gave me away). Granted, I'm probably a bit older than you (I'm now 54) but weddings are weddings and it sure was fun doing everything! My husband and I had a wonderful special day and I'm sure you will too!
