My Olympic Love of Carrots

orange beauties

Lately, I really have a thing for carrots. The carrots at the farmers market have been so perfect: crunchy, sweet, bright orange, and bursting with carroty goodness - no matter which farmer I buy them from! I've been keeping my produce drawer stocked with a non-stop supply of these special veggies, and putting them in soup, eating them as snacks, giving the ends to the doggies... everyone loves carrots!

Also, I have been watching a lot of Olympics. Can you tell?
Carrots and Olympics, these are the things on my mind these days.

  1. I totally understand the carrot love! Oftentimes when I'm chopping carrots for a salad, I snag a bite or two and am blown away by the wonderful earthy flavor. Then I pull David to me and say, "You have to try this carrot!" I know that they're a very standard vegetable, but because they're often served shaved and dried out or in baby carrot form people don't realize how good a fresh-from-ground carrot can be. All of your carrot pics are super cute!!

  5. Lately I've been letting Grey pick a vegetable we'll have with dinner. He always picks either raw carrots or cooked broccoli! Which is okay because both things are awesome.

You are definitely acquiring a gold in the Carrot-lympics

  10. You crack me up! Love it.
I have been buying pounds of carrots at the FM. We juice them, cook with them, add them to salads, and just reach into the bag and eat them again and again!
I may have to try skiing on them... if only there was snow.

  16. Ha ha – carrot capers! I've thrown a couple of surprise parties, and the hardest thing for me is to not laugh. No matter what anyone says before the party, I laugh and laugh. I have to keep thinking of funny things to say so the laughing seems more 'normal'. You always have the best food at your parties!
